Om Tindeliv

TINDELIV was established in 1992 and is run by IFMGA Guide Dan Halvorsen.

I was approved as a certified guide in the International Mountain Guide association IFMGA/IVBV “Mountain professionals”in 1994. In particular, it was climbing in the Hemsedal mountains on rock, ice climbing in the winter and later work at «Norges Høgfjellskole» that laid the foundation for his love for steep mountains in Norway and the Alps.

Since 1995 I have been a rescuer in the Norwegian Air Ambulance, and from 2014 I have worked part-time as a rescue technical advisor for the Air Ambulance Service in Norway. I joined the Alpine Rescue service early on, and have participated in alpine rescue operations and avalanche rescue since the eighties.

(Since 1983, I have participated in international rescue work through ICAR (International Commission for Alpine Rescue), which brings together the elite of international mountain rescuers globally. This provides direct access to international professional updates in avalanches and alpine climbing. The organization is headquartered in Switzerland, and for ten years I was vice president of the organization.

A UIAGM/IVBV guide, or TINDEVEGLEDER, as it is called in Norway, is the highest education one can have as mountain guide. TINDELIV strives to use qualified peak guides, or guides under qualification with extensive knowledge of the relevant subject.

TINDELIV is based in Hemsedal and offers guided climbing tours skitouring , avalanche courses, climbing courses and ice climbing courses.

Feedback from participants:

On behalf of Libby, Synne and myself, thank you for a very fun and informative avalanche weekend course Dan!  Thanks for sharing the wealth of knowledge you have so that we can explore the mountains as safely as possible.  Valuable information was gained by all, and we look forward to more adventures in the snow!

No question is a silly questions with Dan – he is passionate about sharing his wisdom and experiences in the mountains.  We would 100% recommend him to friends (and already have!).

Many thanks

Charlie
