The IFMGA mountain guide behind Tindeliv
Tindeliv was established in 1994 and is run by IFMGA Guide Dan Halvorsen. Dan has been a certified guide in the International Mountain Guide association IFMGA/IVBV since 1984: the highest education one can have as a mountain guide. He has extensive experience in climbing and guiding in Norway and the Alps, along with a solid background in mountain rescue: a rescuer in the Norwegian Air Ambulance, active in alpine and avalanche rescue since the eighties, and vice president of the international rescue commission ICAR (International Commission for Alpine Rescue) for ten years .
Whether you join an avalanche course, a climbing course or a guided tour, Tindeliv will ensure safe and memorable experiences in the mountains.
Norwegian Mountain Guides (Nortind)
Nortind is the only Norwegian member of the international mountain guide federation IFMGA, and certifies mountain guides to the IFMGA’s international standard. Training to become a mountain guide takes at least three years and is the highest professional qualification in mountain sports. A certified mountain guide is an expert in climbing, glacier travel, ski touring, steep skiing and avalanche assessment.
IFMGA – International Federation of Mountain Guides Associations
The IFMGA is the international mountain guide federation that brings together national guide associations from around the world. Its training is built around safety: mountain guides are professionally trained to reduce the residual risk that cannot be eliminated in the mountains, and their education is focused on safety and on making the right decisions in difficult situations. In many countries, the IFMGA qualification is required by law to guide in the mountains professionally.
